THE IDEAL TERROIR FOR SPARKLING WINE

Pietro Riccadonna and Domenico Mazza were the fathers of the modern sparkling wine making process in Italy. Both of them conducted their experiments right here in Oltrepò (the great Pinot Noir Riserva), the ideal terroir for sparkling wine because of the unique soil features and the microclimate in the hills. In 1870 Domenico Mazza started producing the “Champagne of Oltrepò” in Codevilla. At the beginning of the 20th century, Oltrepò sparkling wine was also well known in the US, and, near the Statue of Liberty in New York City, there was a billboard advertising “Gran Spumante Svic”, by the Casteggio wine company.

According to local tradition and always in search of excellence, at Castel del Lupo we bet on one product in particular: our organic sparkling wine. It is a great and healthy wine, with a straw-yellow color and a fine and persistent perlage. A well-balanced and pervasive wine with a marked richness of flavor.
A wine for great occasions, but not only, it is also a wine that can give you a thrill and add a touch of quality to everyday life.
